“Trump Demands Supreme Court Keep His Name on Colorado Ballot

In the latest election news, President Donald Trump is attempting to ensure his name remains on the Colorado ballot in November. With a quarter of all Colorado Republicans not wanting Trump to remain the party’s standard bearer, this has become a pressing issue for Trump’s re-election campaign. The Trump campaign filed a petition with the U.S. Supreme Court in late August that seeks to overturn a lower court ruling. The Denver-based 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals previously decided that President Trump’s name should be taken off the ballot in November. This because of Colorado Republicans who asserted that their state party did not follow proper procedures when naming Trump as their nominee. Trump’s legal team argued that the appeals court ruling should be reversed in order to protect the “right of the people to choose their president”. They further stated that blocking President Trump from the ballot would disenfranchise Colorado voters and inversely negatively impact the election. In response, the Colorado Democratic Party argued that Trump’s legal team had failed to state any of the required grounds for Supreme Court review, such as a conuter-argument or a demonstrable error in the lower court decision. While the Supreme Court recently declined to review the decision, the Trump team has vowed to appeal the 10th Circuit ruling. This case is sure to be a major point of contention in the months to come. If the Trump team can succeed in getting Trump’s name listed on the ballot, it could have major implications for the presidential race. Overall, the decision to keep or remove President Trump from the Colorado ballot in November could have significant ramifications for the upcoming election. Trump and his legal team have vowed to appeal the lower court decision, and it remains to be seen what the outcome of this legal battle will be. Only time will tell.
